237: Goal -- Nut

How do you keep track of your goals?

So yeah, again back on the question 'How do you keep track of your goals'? There's really nothing wrong with not being able to keep track of your goals, I mean come on I guess it's those who are very OC would do that (*cough* *cough*), and aren't we suppose to live spontaneously? (okay, enough of being contrary).

Anyway, if you ask me how do I keep track on my goals, it's about having a checkpoint dates every week. What I mean about checkpoint dates it's really about a certain day on my week where in I would go through what I have done related to my goals. Like for example, in one of my goals I've written about learning a new sport. Every week, during Sundays there's a certain question on my planner where in it asks me 'Learned new sport?', and etc.,

Why do I do this? The reason why I've ended up making a checkpoint every week is because I want to be certain that I won't forget my goals. I'm not sure how others have accomplish their goals, I just do not trust myself that I will be able to carry through without forgetting what I am really supposed to be accomplishing.

I have to say that making a checkpoint every week works for me because it aligns my activities according to what I wanted to accomplish by the end of the year.

But lo and behold, I have to admit that it's a challenge. First, every week I am expected to see an accomplishment may it be small or not, so when I realized that I haven't done anything according to my plans, I ended up berating myself. Yeah, sorry I am self destructive OC. But yeah, I easily forgive myself. By telling myself that I have to make up for it.

But really, try not to be so hard on yourself by trying to deliver everything according to your plans. The point is do something -- anything according to what you wanted to accomplish by the end of the year. I may not be able to do my some small stuff according to my goals, but I make sure that I make up on it. Keep focused. Keep going!

167: Just Do It ✔

The last time I had written here, I talked about Plans. I think it's just right that I write about Taking an Action. Honestly, I am one of those people who's always in the brink of not doing and doing. Here are my issues why some of my ideas die just before I execute them: First, lack of budget.

The fact that I do not have budget for my plans is just frustrating. I envy those people who have the means to support their ideas because they have funds they can pull up when they need it. Now, I have learned better, I have started saving up for it. Being able to personally finance my idea is tough, but I think and I believe it will be worth it because I know I'll double the effort to make the idea really work knowing that it came on my pocket.

Second, procrastination. I just hate myself when I do this. I literally switch in self-hate mode when I have procrastinated just because I am not ready to face the daunting chances of failing. I don't know, but this is something I have to improve on until this day. Sometimes, I delay the production of my idea just because I get scared that I may not get what I was expecting and realized how much money and materials I have wasted. (But come on, it's so much better if I try right? Damn, self deal with it ok? - lol).

Third, human resources (preferably, enthusiastic and optimist). Dude, I'm telling you it's so much better to work in group rather than work alone. Thus, this is an incredible frustration at all. You know, before I thought that "yeah, yeah I can do it alone", but nah-uh, I realized that suggestions, comments of improvement, hands-on helpers are important. Sometimes there are ideas that are just so hard to execute alone. Yeah, it maybe possible to do it alone but ... still ... it's so so much better to have someone to work with: who can cheer, criticize, and work with me.

There are a lot of issues I have to face, but I am thankful that I was able to sit on the reasons why sometimes I fail to execute my ideas and finally address them. You might ask, so am I able to execute my plans/ideas now? -- Well that's something that I'll share next time.

I'm ending this entry with this song from Des'Ree (one of my motivating songs) - You Gotta Be. I think this is just perfect.

Listen as your day unfolds
Challenge what the future holds
Try and keep your head up to the sky
Lovers, they may cause you tears
Go ahead release your fears
Stand up and be counted
Don't be ashamed to cry

You gotta be
You gotta be bad, you gotta be bold
You gotta be wiser, you gotta be hard
You gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger
You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm
You gotta stay together

156: On Self-Commitment

"Come on, you promised."

"But what am I suppose to write?"

"Well, I don't know. Why don't you just sit in front of your laptop and just start on something… Anything. I'm sure something will come out of it."

"But what if there's none?"

"Something will."

"augh, I'm sort of tired."

"You had enough sleep. Just go! Think of your commitment. If you break this you'll be breaking another."

Can you believe that that communication transpired between me and ... myself ... inside my head. HAHAHA. Seriously! You see I have promised to myself that every week, every weekend I need to publish an entry. Unfortunately, just right after I woke up I didn't have that enthusiasm of writing. I thought about giving it up for today. I told myself that I could do it tomorrow. But I felt that if I start breaking this promise soon enough I will be breaking others.

But alas! Talking to myself and reminding myself that I need to stay true to my commitment won.

So here I am writing. Finally! And I actually feel good about it.

Despite of how much I wanted to practice staying true to my commitments there will still come a time that something will pull me back. There will be a lot of external and internal factors that will lead me to failing on my supposed self-promises. But actually thinking about it, and telling myself that I need to get it accomplished helps me.

My friends asked me that they like how productive I could be for the whole day. I tell them that it's not easy because there will always be something that I have to battle with in order for me to get something accomplished. But being decisive that I have to do it; that I need to do this, that there will be no room for procrastination drives me to achieve my goals. #BeatProcastination #ToProductivity

There will be a lot of ways in how someone could get something done (I mean isn't that supposed to be a personal style? - haha), in how a person could battle procrastination and laziness. But I believe that it really starts with that firm decision that we will stick to our commitment (no matter what's the cost) will help us accomplish our goals.

So start making small commitments and stay true to that commitment and after a month or so I believe we could accomplish something great.

To productivity!
